STRAWBERRIES: June 4, 2013: Our early variety, Itasca, is now nearly in full bloom and some green berries are forming. Our second variety to ripen, Jewel, is just now showing the first few blossoms. Because of the late Spring we expect a later beginning to our season, perhaps the end of the third week of June. Please check back when we are closer to the date.
PLEASE NOTE FOR RETURNING CUSTOMERS: OUR OPENING HOURS HAVE CHANGED, WE WILL BEGIN THE PICKING DAY AT 8:00 AM.
Maybe normal temperatures and rainfall will be in our favor this year.
The blueberry bushes are in full bloom now, and it appears that we will have a bountiful crop this year. We anticipate the opening of that picking season around the second week of July. Of course, you will want to check back at our website for updates on the blueberry crop.
SWEET CORN: The first few sections of sweet corn is up, but the variety takes about 75 days to mature. Our sweet corn seed is very particular about growing conditions, so we had to wait for the soil to warm up, which was delayed by all the snow in April. Right now, it is a guess to say that the corn will be ripe around the end of July. Check back later.
